Landscape of Mont Serrat in Barcelona

Motorhome Rental Barcelona

Throughout the world, Barcelona is associated with the good life, art, modernity, good weather and food. That's how it is and has been for many years, ever since Barcelona became a world tourist centre. If you consider yourself a hedonist, you have thousands of terraces and hidden bars to enjoy a good tapa and a glass of wine and a bit of sun. If you like art, what about the trail of Gaudí, Picasso or Miró through the streets. Or if you are a football fan, here you have the stadium Camp Nou and Barça. And if nature is your thing, take a campervan hire in Barcelona to the Pyrenees and the Costa Brava will make you feel in your element. What more could you ask for?

Getting to Barcelona

With a privileged geographical location, Barcelona is a crossroads: on the shores of the Mediterranean, a stone's throw from France and perfectly connected to the rest of the Iberian Peninsula. As a result, the city is easily accessible by land, sea and air. If your idea is to arrive by road from the north of the Iberian Peninsula or from Madrid, the best way to reach the city is via the AP-2. Otherwise, you can use the coastal motorways, either from Valencia or from Montpellier (France). And if your favourite option is the train, Sants Station has lines to different parts of the Iberian Peninsula and Europe. Flying into the Barcelona metropolitan area is also very easy, with flights from any European capital to El Prat Airport (the main airport) or to smaller airports, such as Reus, via the main airlines. And you can even fly into the port of Barcelona from another Mediterranean port!

Parking in Barcelona

Barcelona and its metropolitan area form a huge urban zone, home to more than 5.5 million people. That's why trying to park on the outskirts of the city can be an adventure you don't want to expose yourself to. We suggest four places to park your motorhome hire in Barcelona: two inside Barcelona and two on the outskirts. Within the city, there is the Freser Trinxant car park and the Garcia-Faria bus park. But if you're looking for quieter, open-air places, here are the two on the outskirts: CaravaningPark, in L'Hospitalet, and Caravaning Park Vallés, in the heart of Vallés, the mountainous area closest to Barcelona. However, you can also take note of some extra tips: the Zona Universitaria and Montjuic are two of the best places in the city to park your campervan for free and on any day of the week. Finally, if you prefer to park in the city centre, either in the green or blue zone, it's best to do so between 20:00 and 8:00 in the morning. Otherwise, you will have to pay between 1 and 4 euros per hour, depending on the type of car and parking zone.

Annual Events in Barcelona

  • Sant Jordi: The most important festival in Catalonia, the celebration of the book and the rose. If you like literature, April 23rd is the day to visit Barcelona.
  • Primavera Sound: The event that opens the summer festival season in Spain is one of the symbols of Barcelona. Indie, electronica and trap spread over many days of partying.
  • Sonar: Electronic music, creativity and technology are the three pillars of Barcelona's other major festival, usually held in mid-June.
  • Fiesta de la Mercé: The most traditional, old-school event on Barcelona's festival calendar. During the last week of September, the Festa de la Mercé turns the city towards its people, something that doesn't happen most of the year.

Camping in Barcelona

  • Area Camper Barcelona Beach: Just 25 kilometres from the centre of Barcelona, this beachside campsite offers 40 campervan pitches for €15 a day (€25 in July and August).
  • Camping 3 Estrellas: Similar to the previous one, but even closer and heading south, Camping 3 Estrellas also offers the possibility of staying overnight by the sea. A way to rent a motorhome in Barcelona and sleep in peace and quiet just a stone's throw from the city. From €35 per night.
  • El Vedado: If you prefer the mountains to the beach and pay a little less, El Vedado Camping is the place for you. Half an hour from Barcelona by car, El Vedado offers affordable prices: €18 per night in high season (June, July and September) and only €11 during the rest of the year.
