Rent the best campervans and motorhomes in Faro
Faro, formerly known as Ossonoba, is the capital of the Algarve, whose importance dates to the 8th century BC. The city stands out for its most extensive lagoon system on the Portuguese coast - Ria Formosa - internationally recognized for its ecological importance.
Faro is more than a city, that’s why we recommend you to hire a campervan in Faro and explore the area. This place has both beaches and mountains to offer. Consider visiting Serra de Monchique, the highest point in the region, or nearby islands.
You can get to Faro by car, airplane, or train. If you travel by car, you can use IC2 or A2 as your main roads subjected to tolls. Travelling by airplane is the fastest and most practical option since the airport is only 7 km away from the city centre. You can book your flight with many foreign airlines, such as Ryanair, British Airways, and TAP.
Faro’s train station is very close to the city centre, which connects many places from North to South through the Alfa-Pendular train and the intercity rail.
It’s hard to park in the centre when you hire a motorhome in Faro, but along the city, there are many parking lots near downtown. The best ones are Largo de São Francisco, Largo de Santo Amaro and Parque da Pontinha. The first two are free and have no height restriction. From these parking lots to the city centre, it’s only a 15 and 7-minute walk. The last car park is underground, and you’ll pay €1.10 for 2 hours of use. The prices in the city round €0.90 and €1.50. You can encounter valet parkers that expect a symbolic payment.
