Rent the best campervans and motorhomes in Geneva
The people of Geneva have nothing to envy from the dolce vita of their Italian neighbours. Indeed, the summer is very mild and peaceful. With the La Grange Park, the Eaux-vives park or the Perle du Lac park, the inhabitants of the Swiss city have many green spaces to relax in. However, the most popular place for visitors is the famous 140-metre high water jet on the lake.
Geneva also has a rich history that holds many secrets. It is possible to visit any number of museums to trace the city's past. For example, the Patek Philippe Museum pays tribute to this wristwatch designer. It was in the city where the first wristwatch was developed in 1868. This was the beginning of a long love affair between Switzerland and luxury watches.
The Swiss city is wedged between the mountains to the south and Lake Geneva to the north, which limits road access. However, the A40 and A41 motorways provide direct access for those with a motorhome rental in Geneva from the south. To the north, the European E62 is the main road. These access conditions lead many visitors to prefer using the train.
With its 720 daily shuttles, the Geneva-Cornavin train station is the third largest in Switzerland. Geneva airport, meanwhile, provides access to travellers from further afield. Air France, British Airways and easyJet all travel there. This airport has the added bonus of offering a free transport link to the city centre for passengers.
The city has no shortage of car parks, where you can leave your vehicle all day with complete peace of mind. In the city centre, the Parking du Mont-Blanc charges £2.50/€2.90 per hour. In addition, the plaine de plainpalais car park offers a progressive rate. The first hour costs only one franc, however, as time goes by, the rates increase exponentially. Further out, the Mérin-Gravière and Etoile car parks (Park & Ride) offer parking near public transport lines. An hour's parking costs an average of £1.50/€1.75.
Geneva and its surroundings have several campsites for a peaceful stay:
