Campervan and Motorhome Rental in Lazio

Lazio is a large region located in the central peninsula of Italy. While one of the country's most populated regions, the surrounding countryside offers plenty of experience for holidaymakers.

Campervan or motorhome rental in Lazio allows you to experience Rome, the coast, the flatlands, and the Apennine mountains that combine to make this region unique.

From this starting point in the heart of Italy, you have a lot of options to discover the Lazio region. Explore the endless kilometres of Tyrrhenian Sea coastline to the west, or head east and uncover historic ruins, charming villages, and the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park or Sirente-Velino Regional Park.

From this central base, you can also take your campervan or motorhome hire south and explore Naples, Catania, and the myriad rich delights of the  'Mezzogiorno' or 'Midday' region.

National Parks of Lazio

Lazio is home to world-class national parks you can visit in your campervan or motorhome rental. The National Park of Abruzzo is one of the most heavenly, picturesque parks you can imagine. It's an incredible spot that offers varied hikes, alpine skiing, and a diverse range of wildlife.

The Circeo National Park is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Its rugged beauty, stunning trails, sand dunes, and unspoiled beaches make it perfect for walks and picnics.

Finally, the Monti Aurunci Nature Park is another must-see park to access via campervan. With over 90 named mountains and a glorious view of the Tyrrhenian Sea coast, it's well worth the trip.

Lazio's Coastline, Lakes, and Rivers

Lazio has some incredible Mediterranean beaches. The sandy isolation of Torre Paola and the soft, clean sands of the Lido Beluga offer interesting and contrasting days out for campervan travellers. Sperlonga Beach, located between Rome and Naples, is a popular seaside resort with an enchanting nearby Old Town and marina.

Of course, it's more than beaches that will please water lovers. Lazio also has some great lakes you can visit when you avail of a campervan or motorhome rental.

The Lake of Foliano is a beautiful coastal lake close to Circeo National Park. It's lovely for a picnic, a walk, or birdwatching.

Lake Turano is an artificial lake built in the 1940s. However, its castle, charming villages, and serenity make it worth a trip in your motorhome or campervan hire. Additionally, the Lake of Cutilia is a romantic spot with crystal-clear waters.

Lazio has great rivers for walks, boat trips, and adventure sports. The famous River Tiber runs through Rome, while the River Aniene offers swimming, canoeing, and rafting.

The Ulysses Riviera is a must for fans of Homer's Odyssey, with boat trips, mountain hikes, and mind-blowing views, just some delights you can access if you travel there via your campervan or motorhome rental.

Campgrounds in Lazio

With so much to see and do when you take a campervan around Lazio, it's essential to have somewhere to rest your head at night. However, the region is very popular with tourists, so booking ahead is one the most important camping tips we can give.

Agrimare Camping near Sperlonga is a fantastic spot for campervan-hire holidaymakers. Peaceful, friendly, and family-focused, it's a beautiful space you won't want to leave.

The Area Sosta Camper "Il Ghiro" has stunning surroundings, excellent facilities, and lots of space. The owners are fantastic too, which will make your stay a pleasure.

Finally, if you want to visit Lake Bracciano, you can find a lovely family-run campsite called Area sosta L’isola che non c'è. Located near the small town of Trevignano Romano, it's affordable and authentic and has a bar and pizza restaurant alongside spectacular views.
