Rent the best campervans and motorhomes in Lyon
Lyon is a very lively city throughout the year. The winter Festival of Lights attracts a large number of visitors, but motorhome rental in Lyon in the warmer seasonal weather gives way to numerous festivals and events such as the Comic Book Festival, the Lyon International Fair and the Woodstower Festival.
The richness of this city is also to be found in its extensive architectural heritage. The business district of Part-Dieu is totally different from the charm of Vieux-Lyon and its famous traboules (pedestrian passages underneath the houses). The Place Bellecour, the Cathedral of Saint-Jean and the Croix Rousse district also bear witness to the city's history.
Being built along the Rhône and located between the Massif-Central and the Alps, Lyon is the crossroads of south-eastern France. Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport is located 25 km east of the city and welcomes travellers from EasyJet, Air France or British Airways. While the A42 motorway comes from the east, the A6 and A5 motorways come from the north and south of the city respectively. In addition, the N6 national road offers an alternative for travellers arriving from the north of the city. For those travelling by train, the Lyon Part-Dieu or Lyon Perrache are the two most relevant stations.
The city centre has numerous car parks, such as the 24/24h Indigo de Bellecourt. An hour's parking costs £2.20/€2.60, while a full day costs £30/€35. For this reason, it is preferable to park your campervan hire in Lyon at the Zen Park Part-Dieu near the station, which offers a rate of £14/€16 for the day. Further out, the Zen Park at the Vais station to the west and the Grange Blanche to the east allow you to avoid the dense traffic in the city centre.
Before travelling to Lyon with your campervan, it is best to book your place at a campsite.
