In Stockholm, you can visit Gamla Stan; a historic centre with buildings dating back to the 16th and 18th centuries and where some alleys are barely an arm's length wide.
For those who want to rent a motorhome in Stockholm, this is the perfect starting point as there are plenty of excursion destinations around the city that are well worth a visit. Beautiful Sigtuna, for example, boasts medieval ruins and, in the summer, drives of cultural events. Mariefred is also a nice destination, where you can visit Gripsholm Castle and enjoy the view of Lake Mälaren.
Sweden is connected to Denmark via the Öresund Bridge and Denmark is connected to Continental Europe via the Jyllands bridge, which makes driving to Sweden very easy. Stockholm is on Sweden's east coast, and you follow the E4 motorway upwards from the Öresund Bridge to get there. You can also drive to Sweden through Finland or cross over on a ferry.
Stockholm has four international airports: Arlanda, Bromma, Skavsta and Västerås. Arlanda is the largest and most popular airport and most major airlines such as SAS, KML, and Lufthansa fly here. It takes about 2-4 hours to fly to Stockholm from typical destinations such as Amsterdam, London, and Berlin.
The easiest way to get to Stockholm from the continent is by train from Copenhagen to Stockholm Central Station. From there you can also get on to both Arlanda and the rest of Sweden. Next to the central station, there is a metro station where you can get around the whole of Stockholm and the surrounding area
Stockholm is divided into five different areas that determine how expensive it is to park. In the city centre (Zone 1-2) it costs between 26 and 50 SEK per hour, and in Zone 3-5 it costs between 5 and 15 SEK.
