Rent the best campervans and motorhomes in Venice
Venice is an ancient city whose history begins with the end of the Roman Empire when some started fleeing the Lombards settled in the swamps of the Venetian lagoon. Today Venice is one of the most visited cities in the world, with its canals and its towers that peep through the narrow crowded houses. Visiting this city means getting lost in the narrow streets flanked by the canals to find yourself in characteristic squares such as Santa Margherita, the centre of Venetian nightlife. Walking through the ancient buildings, we suggest you stop for a cocktail in one of the many “bacari”, small venues where you can sip a spritz and eat the local “cicchetto”, a small stuffed sandwich with many flavours.
Venice is connected to the mainland by a single road: the Freedom Bridge. The easiest way to get to Venice is by plane. Marco Polo Airport is only a few kilometres from the city and is well connected to Piazzale Roma. The main airlines are easyJet and Ryanair, which have lower prices during the summer (flight time from London: 2 hours). The main motorway that leads to Venice is the A4. Remember, you cannot park in the city centre, so your motorhome rental in Venice must be left in one of the adjacent parking lots. The Venezia Santa Lucia railway station is located on the Grand Canal and allows you to easily reach all major Italian cities.
It’s not possible to park in the historic centre of Venice. However, there are two car parks just outside the city entrance: Garage San Marco (campervan price for 4 hours: €20, campervan price for 24 hours: €40) and Tronchetto Parking (campervan prices: free for 30 minutes, €25 for 12 hours). A suitable alternative to save money is parking in Mestre, just outside Venice. We recommend the Park Costa AVM (1 hour: €2, 24 hours: €12) or the Saba Mestre Station Car Park (1 hour: €2.40, 24 hours: €15).
