Rent the best campervans and motorhomes in Zurich
Zurich, a multifaceted city on the lake. It is only an hour away from the famous Swiss Alps. From the historic buildings of the old town to the cafés along the Limmat and the famous Bahnhofstrasse with its luxury shops, Zurich has plenty to offer. Climb to the top of the Grossmünster cathedral, take a boat trip on the lake and relax in the Lindenhof park overlooking the old town, and finally taste the famous Swiss chocolate in one of the many chocolate shops in the city, such as Sprüngli, before setting off to explore the rest of Switzerland.
Located on the shores of Lake Zurich, the city is in northern Switzerland. It is easily accessible by road thanks to various motorways: the A1, which crosses Switzerland from east to west, from Geneva to St. Gallen, the A3 between Basel and Chur and the A4, which connects the north of the country with Ticino. The city's main railway station offers direct access to the centre of Zurich. It runs numerous connections both within Switzerland and to European cities such as Berlin, Vienna and Milan in just a few hours. Zurich-Kloten International Airport is the point of entry for many visitors. Swiss and Easyjet offer a wide range of destinations around the world. The journey from the airport to the city centre takes about 15 minutes, whether by car or by train.
Once you arrive in Zurich, parking spaces along the street are rather scarce and limited in the amount of time you may leave your car (2-4 hours). The hourly rate is between £1.50 and £3.50 (2-4 CHF), payable at the parking meter or by credit card through the Parkingpay app. The city offers underground car parks, but certain cars and motorhome rental in Zurich may need to be aware of height restrictions, with rates similar to street car parks. Parkhaus Hauptbahnhof and Hohe Promenade are the most centrally located, about £32 (40CHF) per day.
Beware of fines for not keeping to the indicated parking times, as the city is very strict about this. The cheapest and easiest solution is to park in the Park+ride, the ones in Zurich Tiefenbrunnen and Glattbrugg are very convenient. The daily rates vary between £6 (8 CHF) and £16 (20 CHF). They are located near a train station with direct and fast connections to the city centre.
Please note that it is best to book in advance, especially during the high season (July-August).
