Road and mountains in Arizona

Campervan Rental Arizona

It’s hard to put the beauty of Arizona into words, but it’s perhaps best summed up by its most famous natural landmark, the Grand Canyon. That said, there is so much more Arizona than just the Grand Canyon. Arizona is a vast state, full of history and rich in local lore. Home to many of the remaining American Indian Tribes, countless legendary adventurers, and landscapes that are as beautiful and diverse as the state's residents – Arizona is not just one of the most beautiful places in America; it's one of the most beautiful places in the world, making it a perfect destination to rent an RV.

Places to visit

  • The Grand Canyon – The worlds’ largest and most beautiful gorge has been created over millions of years by the Colorado River winding its way through the canyon.
  • Petrified Forest National Park – Home to the largest collection of petrified trees in America, in this national park, you'll also find a ton of fossilized reptiles, fish, flora, and fauna.
  • Monument Valley – Straddling the border of Utah and Arizona, Monument Valley is home to some of America’s largest and most picturesque megaliths.
  • The Hoover Dam – One of the most impressive engineering feats in human history, the Hoover dam draws millions of visitors every year from all over the world.
  • Havasu Falls – The tallest and arguably the most beautiful waterfall in Arizona, Havasu Falls is a mecca for Instagrammers and other world-class landscape photographers.

Gastronomy

There are a number of delicious culinary treats native to Arizona that you won’t find anywhere else, at least not prepared just right. Some of the best dishes in the region include:

  • Cheese Crips – Similar to a quesadilla but served open face after being baked perfectly on a pan.
  • Chimichangas – This famous dish is a deep-fried burrito, crispy, full of flavor, and not nearly as heavy as you might expect.
  • Navajo Taco’s – A regional favorite, basically tostadas but served on a delicious, fried flatbread.

Annual Events in Arizona

  • The Arizona Balloon Classic – Taking place every year in January, the Arizona Balloon Classic features countless hot air balloons, live entertainment, and activities for the kids to enjoy. The event is held in the small town of Goodyear. Tickets are only $15.
  • The Arizona Renaissance Festival – Taking place on weekends in February and March, this festival recreates the magic of the renaissance period, replete with jousting tournaments, elaborate costumes, and food made in the style of the period. The festival is held near the Apache Junction. Tickets start from $29.
  • Arizona State Beer Week – This ten-day annual beer celebration takes place at more than 200 different venues in mid-February. It's a great time to try out the best of the state's many independent craft beers. Admission prices vary but are generally quite inexpensive.

Camping in Arizona

  • The Grand Canyon Railway RV Park – One of the most exciting things about this world-class RV park is the train that runs from the park grounds to the Grand Canyon and back again. Plus, the park features an indoor pool, hot tubs, and fast Wi-Fi. Rates start at $59 per night.
  • Eagle View RV Resort at Fort McDowell – This awesome RV park features horseback riding, a pool, a golf club, and even a casino. Fast Wi-Fi, hot water hookups, and an off-leash pet park round out the resort's many amenities. Rates starting from $43 per night.
  • Leaf Verde RV Resort – In close proximity to Arizona's largest city Phoenix, Leaf Verde RV resort is a great option for those who want to explore the many activities on offer in the big city. The park itself features horseshoe pits, a large heated pool, a BBQ area, pool tables, and much more. Rates from $39 per night.
